Feed Forward Not Working Properly Talon

Alright party people.  I think I've got the Talon to a good tune.  As an aside, since I've been going tune crazy lately with one build after another, I am noticing that all else equal, my motors run considerably hotter once I apply feed forward.  Anyhoo ...

For whatever reason I debugged gyro_filtered instead of _scaled during the PID tuning.  The good news is, I remembered to set _scaled for FF tuning ... bad news is my camera broked lol wtf man.  The stupid lock ring gave and evidently 20 minutes of welders glue don't cut it.  So in addition to ugly jello in an already ugly DVR footage, it may have contributed to some ripply noise on my pitch axis for what would otherwise have been a *pristine* noise profile ...

... and yea, that's *scaled* ... with a camera lens wiggling loose lolol.  Filtered ...

So I've been getting into the habit of posting my PIDs and filters.  But I ought to have been prefacing that for this to work (ergo, for this not to blow up your motors and set them on fire), you really need to have a clean build with a noise profile not much worst than what I've shown here.  And as I mentioned earlier, even then, I had some really hot motors during feed forward tuning.  But damn dude it flies so good lol ...

Like I said earlier, the Foxeer Falkor crapped on me with the busted lock ring so the video sucks even more than the usual sucky DVR video.  And excuse the wonky amp reading.  It needs calibration but I'm also talking to T-motor in case its some bigger issue.  Hopefully it gives some indication of the tune ...

Now time to push this thing lol. Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

[edit] Just noticed the video has a more aggressive tune. I ratcheted it back because the motors were super hot. I could hold them but not enough buffer room for my comfort.

Freakin' sweet man. Screamer for sure.

Deal

Here's the Deal

10" 6S FR10-G Long Range, 5" 6S Rooster, 5" 6S Badger, 5" 6S QAV-S, 5" 4S Badger, 5" 4S Phreakstyle Slam, 5" 6S Yema, 5" 4S Stark, 3" 4S Gecko, and a 3S 2.5" Tadpole, all of which are Crossfire.  Tinyhawk, Tinyhawk S, and a DJI Spark.  And projects on the bench....

Yeah that thing is fast man! I will have to build one eventually.

wow, the noise plots look really clean even before filtering, that thing is a rocket!!

Thumbs Up

Santi

Dontcha love it when you spend top dollar on a "premium" stack and when you ask the "premium" company why their amp readings are completely off, you get, "don't worry about it, pilots don't use that" as a response?

P.S.  And yes, I ripped them a new a-hole.

Since that tuning video was so awful I felt I owed it to you guys to make a proper one.

Here is my first ever lipo on my first ever racing build ... this is oddly very fun and addictive ... Big Grin

I need some gates. Big Grin

pretty cheeky
does it have a true current meter or is it just not calibrated?

I'm hoping it's just not calibrated. I'm meaning to run the procedure ph described in a earlier post to get the reading right. It just annoys me when I'm told not to worry about it cos pilots don't use it lol.

T-Motor are known for their motors, not for their flight stacks. It wouldn't surprise me if their stacks were out-sourced to another company and just have the T-Motor branding on them. That would explain why they don't seem to have a clue Big Grin

This is true.  That's why I'm here to keep these companies honest. ROFL

I'm 90% sure their VTX is a rebranded Rush Tank Race, but I can't find any FCs with the same layout. Under the heat-spreader the ESC could be anything. I believe the old T-Motor individual ESCs were made by Spedix.

I wish there was a way to find out who actually makes the products. I really couldn't give a toss about the label on it.

The ground is for dead people.

Nice one, you're diving into the racing ronin style ROFL I like that.

I'm about to start building the small indoor gymnasium racer. And to help with practise, I also bought 4 small soccer gates from Lidl - they're quite a bit smaller at about 120x80x80 cm, but it should be plenty for a 2.5".
